The Compensator can respond to a Stage 2 Settlement Pack in three ways:

Agree
The claim will be in status Stage 2 Settlement Pack confirmation. You need to access the claim and press the Continue button. If the claimant is an adult, the claim will end in the portal. If the claimant is under 18 years at the time of the agreement, the claim will continue to Court Proceedings Pack (for RTA claim, the option to add additional damages will be presented).

Repudiate
The claim will be in status Stage 2 Settlement Pack repudiation. You need to access the claim and press the Continue button. The claim will end in the portal.

Counter offer
When the Compensator has responded to a Stage 2 Settlement Pack by making a counter offer, you need to decide on the latest offer. If you are not satisfied, a new counter offer can be created, or the decision made that agreement is not reached and a Court Proceeding pack form prepared.

Top tip: Note that the Compensator may have made a Global offer which appears in the Gross Amount field. When making a new counter offer, you will need to update this field manually to reflect your offer. Please check the amount carefully.
How to accept the Compensator's counter offer

How to reject the Compensator's counter offer and not making a new offer
If you do not accept the Compensator's counter offer and do not want to make a further counter offer, follow the steps below:

Stage 2 Settlement Pack Decision Timeout
If the Compensator has not responded to your Stage 2 Settlement pack or counter offers according to the time limits defined in the protocol; the claim will be returned to you and, you need to access the claim and press Continue. The claim will end in the portal.
You also need to respond to the Compensator's counter offers in line with the timeframes defined in the protocol.
During the Stage 2 negotiations, you may agree with the Compensator to extend the negotiation period.
You can extend the time if the claim is waiting for your response by pressing the Extend Time button. You need to give a reason for the extension and set a new timeout date.
Please note that the new date is the day the claim will time out, so if you have agreed to extend the period to say next Wednesday, you need to enter Thursday's date as the new timeout date.

Top Tip: If the Compensator has submitted a counter offer within the last five days of the current deadline, the period will be automatically extended by five days. No further extension will be allowed.Â
